Wildlife Cruises from Oban on Mara Mhor
Specialising in scenic, wildlife cruises, around the islands near Oban in the Firth of Lorn Special Area of Conservation, where colonies of seals and sea birds abound. Enjoy a wealth of close encounters with marine and bird life. Be privileged to watch these fascinating wild animals in their natural environment, where if we are patient and respectful, they will provide us with many photo-opportunities. We take great care to minimise disturbance to animals at all times.
Dolphins viewed from Mara Mhor
Argyll Charters' new spacious catamaran Mara Mhor was purpose built for the 2006 season. She runs smoothly, is extremely stable in all weathers and has a large shelter deck with seating. Passengers are also welcome in the roomy wheelhouse.
Ron Stevenson (skipper/owner) has 28 years experience in the waters around Oban and a wealth of knowledge which he is happy to share with you in his lively commentary.
Wildlife
We take great care to minimise disturbance to animals and can enjoy seeing a variety of diverse species. There can be no guarantee of seeing a particular species, however, depending on the season there are regular sightings of common and grey seals, porpoise, eagles and a variety of sea birds including guillemots, razorbills, great northern divers, shearwaters, terns, cormorants, shags and herons to name but a few.
Some destinations present a chance to see dolphin, otter, minke whale and occasional puffins, while feral goats and red deer can be seen on shore.
